Crossroads Village & Huckleberry Railway
The Crossroads Village & Huckleberry Railway is a living history museum located near Flint, Michigan. It is operated by the Genesee County Parks and Recreation Commission. Originally intended to be a farm museum and recreation area along the Flint River, the historical village opened in 1976. Today, the village is a favorite attraction for families of all ages. The Crossroads Village & Huckleberry Railway is a restored 1800’s town. There are several buildings from the 1860s that are in good condition. These include the Stanley School, Dr. Barbour’s office, and Fenton General Store. The Opera House was used as a dime store and church until it burned down in 1975.
The historic buildings in the village date back to the 1850s. In addition to the museum, the historic structures were also used as inns, stagecoach shops, and other businesses. In the early nineteenth century, the Mason Tavern was located on Fenton Road, near Grand Blanc Road. It was also home to the Mundy Township post office. After the railroad closed in 1871, the building became a private residence. It was relocated to the Crossroads Village to keep its historical significance.
